First I didn't perform these bench marks. But I managed to find them.
The crossfire tests were done on Vista Ultimate 64 (slow system resource hog)
The SLI test were done on Windows XP SP1 (huge advantage)
Add why do they put the top card against the runner up?
Well here's top dog against top dog.

Yep the 8800 GTX is faster.

Well looks to me like ATI HD 2900XT in Crossfire running
on system hogging Vista Ultimate with beta drivers is faster.

Remember I didn't do these and I don't like ATI at all! But numbers don't lie.
Nvidia 8800 GTX's running on windows xp sp1 (no drivers for vista)
ATI HD 2900XT's running on Vista Ultimate 64 on beta drivers.
Bottom line the 2900's have the best over all score. On Vista & beta drivers!
2 HD2900XT's $900.00 ($840.00 for none HD's)
2 8800 GTX's $1300.00 (Ultra's $1700.00)
Let me think $500.00 more to go slower?
